Common Issues With Wireless Networks–and How to Fix Them

    Having issues connecting online?

Over this last year, we’ve pretty much lived our lives online. Socializing through social media, groceries, food delivery, even online medical appointments.

This online experience has become the only link for many to the outside world. Of course, there are bound to be hiccups when navigating online. A problem with a wireless network can prevent you from being able to connect to the internet in the first place.

Let’s go over some common wifi
problems when trying to connect to your wireless networks and how to
    troubleshoot them.

    Wireless Networks

There are plenty of people out there
that are new to computers. Not everyone grew up with tablets or screens as
    their third parent.

     So, what is a wireless
    network?

    A wireless network, WiFi, enables
communication between devices. Sending data through your internet connection.

Your devices can be your smartphone,
tablet, TV, computer, even your fridge. Your router will be the medium with
which your devices will connect to the internet.

    ISP Issues

Your ISP is your internet service
    provider.

If you are having issues connecting
to the internet or staying connected you may want to check your network icon.
It should be on the top right of your phone or tablet and the bottom left of
your computer. If you do not see an icon of what looks like a fan, you have no
    internet connection.

No worries. The first thing you’ll
want to do is check that all the wires coming in or out of your computer are
plugged in where they should be. If you are in the clear, but still
experiencing issues, then reset your router.

You may want to check if there are
any outages in your area due to ISP maintenance or inclement weather
conditions. If you are unable to find the source of your issue, contact your
service provider, they can help you with step by step instructions or send a
    technician out to you.

    Router Problems

Make sure your router is in the
    right position!

Yes, it matters how you physically set up your router. Check the manufacturer
setting for any specific set up instructions.

You’ll, of course, want to begin
with turning your router off and then on. For connectivity issues, you’ll
always want to begin with turning your router off and on.

Make sure your router is not near
metal like metal cabinets, you’ll generally want it in a higher place with
    little or no obstruction.

    If your business’s wireless network
    needs require assessment, a wireless
    site survey
can provide you with the answers to your questions.

issues and how to troubleshoot them.

Now that we’ve gone over what a
wireless network is and a couple of issues you should be feeling a bit more
confident. Router, also known as hardware, issues can usually be corrected by
    resetting your device.

technical, feel free to contact your provider if you are unsure. A little help
